One more year, we have participated in the Course “Research in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology”, organised by the University of the Basque Country, as part of the Master and PhD program on Environmental Contamination and Toxicology (UPV/EHU), in the Marine Station of Plentzia (19-22 and 27 October, 2015). The course covers a wide variety of topics dealing with the characterization, impact and remediation of contaminated areas.
Carlos Garbisu presented our work on soil microbial parameters as biomarkers and bioindicators of the impact of contamination on soil quality. In particular, he presented our results on the utilization of soil microbial communities as indicators of the effectiveness of aided phytostabilization strategies for the recovery of soil functioning in abandoned mining areas.
