This coming Tuesday (June 28th, 2016), Olatz Garaiyurrebaso will defend her PhD thesis entitled SOILS UNDER LONG-TERM AIDED PHYTOSTABILIZATION ARE A RESERVOIR FOR TRANSMISSIBLE ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE PLASMIDS and supervised by Dr. Itziar Alkorta (University of the Basque Country) and Dr. Elisabeth Grohmann (Beuth University of Applied Sciences, Germany). We have actively participated in this thesis through our collaboration in the following two chapters: (1) Effect of long-term aided phytostabilization on soils, and (2) Horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance plasmids.
