Lur Epelde, with the collaboration of Carlos Garbisu, has been the Guest Editor of the latest issue of the Spanish Journal of Soil Science (SJSS). This issue of the Spanish Journal of Soil Science includes several works presented at the VII National Symposium on Control of Degradation and Restoration of Soils (CONDEGRES 2105, Bilbao, 23-26 June 2015). The works presented in this issue cover some of the most important threats currently affecting our soils (contamination, climate change, agricultural abandonment, etc.), as well as some proposals to restore them (e.g., application of health cards, use of technosols, etc.). In this issue, we have published two of our studies on soil research: (1) “Microbial indicators for assessing the adverse impact of technical-grade hexachlorocyclohexane on soil quality” (Anza et al. 2016, SJSS, Vol. 6, pp. 1-14) where we studied the adverse impact of technical grade hexachlorohexane on soil functioning by means of using soil microbial properties with potential as biological indicators of soil quality; and (2) “Health cards for the evaluation of agricultural sustainability” (Mijangos et al. 2016, SJSS, Vol. 6, pp. 15-20), where we presented Agroecosystem Health Cards aimed at providing farmers and other stakeholders related to agroecosystem management with a practical tool to evaluate the impact of agricultural practices on agroecosystem health. CONGRATULATIONS LUR!!
