We gave two oral presentations in the 3rd International Conference on Environment Pollution and Prevention (ICEPP 2015) in Dubai: Iker Martín gave a very interesting presentation on the “Ecological fitness of Escherichia coli transconjugants obtained via horizontal gene transfer from bacterial communities in a phytoremediated mine soil” as part of our collaboration with the group of Dr. Itziar Alkorta from the University of the Basque Country; Carlos Garbisu gave a presentation on the “Ecotoxicity of zero-valent iron nanoparticles to microbial communities growing in PCB-contaminated soils” (awarded best oral presentation), covering results from our NANOBIOR project currently developed by Mikel Anza. Both talks attracted much attention; in fact, we have been invited as keynote speakers for the next ICEPP congress (Barcelona, 2016).
